“Houston on the Move” Summer Plans

Posted on 20 May 2012 by HAHMP

Traveling within the US and abroad, doing internships and volunteering are some of the activities in line for the staff of Houston on the Move this summer.

Recently graduated from the University of Houston, Viridiana Maldonado plans to spend her summer in Houston, working on different projects and continuing her excellent job with Houston on the Move. She also intends to travel during this time.

Also planning to enjoy the summer in Houston, George Lupercio has his health in mind when planning to continue going to the gym everyday and practice making better decisions for a healthy lifestyle. He will keep busy by volunteering at Memorial Hermann Hospital and, of course, working hard to make Houston on the Move possible.

Hawaii and South Korea are two abroad destinations Ariadna Orozco plans to visit during the summer. Orozco intends to visit her sister in South Korea and learn how to surf during her stay in Hawaii. She will also spend part of her summer volunteering as a guide in a women’s spiritual retreat where she will coach youth attendees on how to continue their own spiritual development.

Also traveling abroad, Daniela Gomez will visit her family and friends in Puebla, Mexico. In addition, Gomez will take a summer class at the University of St. Thomas and continue working with Houston on the Move.

Norma Vasquez and Ivan Castillo both plan to hit some interesting destinations in the US. Vasquez will be staying in Nashville, Tenn. for part of the summer as a participant in the Chips Quinn Scholar Program. Later on, she will intern with the Catholic News Service in Washington, as a multimedia journalist. Ivan Castillo will be living in New York during the summer while he attends photography school there.

We wish the best of luck to our wonderful staff!
