“Houston on the Move” Upgrades for New Season
HAHMP TV show revamps with new graphics, new set, and complete production team

HOUSTON (August 31, 2011): HAHMP announced today the renovation of their flagship student-run television show “Houston on the Move”, which commences the start of the 2011-12 season this coming September. The rebranding calls for a new set of computer graphics, new set at HCC studios, and an improved production system.

Last season concluded with the August 2011 episode that showcased guests Angel Quesada of “Talento Bilingue”, the only Latino-established theater in Houston; whose main focus is to teach and promote Latino culture, and Houston-born boxer Juan Diaz. Diaz, a former unified WBA , WBO , IBF and IBO world lightweight champion who recently retired from boxing in June 2011.

The new season’s graphics, created by HAHMP student member Fidel Molina, will enhance the opening and closing credits and add a new look to the lower thirds and segments, in an effort to improve the viewing pleasure of the audience. These changes are bundled with a new set created by the HCC TV team.

“The set looks amazing and the intro is great,” stated HAHMP board member and KXLN Univision Channel 45 Community Affairs Coordinator, Sybil Moncivais in a statement to the cast. “The show is in great hands and I can’t wait to see the second season of Houston on the Move…on HCC TV every Tuesday and Thursday at 9:30 a.m and 9:30pm.”

The content of the show remains of upmost importance which is why every segment now features two producers in charge to bring out the best of each segment in terms of information and supporting video.

“Houston On The Move” is a half-hour, four-segment show that features motivating stories of individuals and groups who are making their mark in our community, non-profit organizations and programs that are helping Houstonians in need, local artists who are moving Houston culturally and those attractions that put locals and visitors on the move.

The Houston Association of Hispanic Media Professionals (HAHMP) was created as a non-profit organization to provide support for Hispanics involved in the gathering and dissemination of news, to encourage and support the study and practice of journalism and communications by Hispanics, and to promote a fair and accurate portrayal of Hispanics in the media. Membership is open to members of the broadcast and print media, public relations professionals and college students. HAHMP was founded in 1986 by a group of local journalists, among them Fernando Dovalina and Jo Ann Zuñiga of the Houston Chronicle, Elma Barrera of ABC Channel 13, Richard Longoria formerly of ABC Channel 13, Sylvan Rodriguez of CBS Channel 11 and Dianne Solis of the Wall Street Journal. HAHMP is the local affiliate of the National Association of Hispanic Journalists (NAHJ). In June of the year 2000, Houston served as the host city for the NAHJ annual conference.
